    Description

K&G Enterprises, purveyor of collectible, vintage, and antique merchandise (e.g., John Rogers Statuary*), is pleased to place in auction this example of
    John Rogers’ semi-rare group,
Returned Volunteer: How the Fort Was Taken
    (version A

the smithy’s mallet is turned slightly to the viewer’s right instead of straight on),
    patented in 1864.
Here, the soldier with the use of various items in the Smithy’s shop laid out on the ground, demonstrates the tactics and use of assets that led to the fort’s fall.
This example is an old repaint and in fine condition. There is only the smallest amount of paint loss. The extended hand of the soldier is a particularly vulnerable spot on this group. I am pleased to say that this example with his hand has all the appearances of being quite intact. The piece stands 20” tall and is relatively light compared to other groups of equal size. So, it is easily handled. Examples of Returned Volunteer one does not come by often, especially in such decent condition. I’ve been "Rogering" for a fair while, yet, it was only in the last 3-4 years or so that I finally came up with one for my own collection. So, you might want to consider snapping up this one. I’m of course, somewhat reluctant to put this piece up in auction before I even started any restorative work on it—best of intentions, you know. Nevertheless, the time comes for certain actions to be taken and the time to sell this piece is now.
S/H/I costs are estimated by eBay and hold only within the contiguous 48 states of CONUS.. Elsewhere, S/H/I will be calculated on the basis of that specific destination. The piece will be double-boxed well and fully insured. The winning bidder's satisfaction is guaranteed for three days following delivery. Posting is done immediately upon receipt of a secured payment---paypal. The seller is open to creative solutions to S/H/I issues. Questions welcomed. Additional pictures provided up request. Good luck with your bidding.
