Rare Civil War Hospital or Nurse’s lamp and broth warmer. Used to illuminate dark hospital settings and warm broths or liquids for convalescing wounded or sick soldiers.
Exceptional example retaining 95% plus of the original japanned finish over bright tin.
Complete with the lid, broth pan and whale oil lamp/burner.
Stands 17 inches tall and is 4½ inches in diameter.
Inside, bottom and under lid are bright tin with some gray areas.
The broth pan is gray and has some surface rust that is easily removed. Can’t state how difficult it is to find one of these with all the parts and in this condition.
A must for a Civil War medical, nursing, or hospital collection.
