    Description

Authentic Genuine Civil War Confederate Soldier wood (cherrywood?)Canteen.Gardner Style.Carved on one side with soldier Identification.A.EARLE.No other markings.Canteen is in very good shape.Solid with no cracks or repairs. Two iron bands are loose from wood shrinkage, they are original and complete.Missing two of the iron strap slings.Strap is continuous and sewn overlapped at the ends.I am not a Civil War collector or historian.I do not know the provenance of this canteen. I had the canteen authenticated. The strap was not authenticated. It looks a lot like many I viewed online.I think it can certainly be original but you are getting the strap as is with no authentication.
I lightly researched the name with online resources. There are several "Earle" and a quite a few with A as their names first letter. There was only one that I found that was listed without a middle initial."Aspariso Earle". He is listed with a few different misspellings of his first name.He had a successful enlistment and rode with General Forest's Escorts.I have no way to prove this history but it makes for a great story. The great even patina on the canteen tells the real story. Please request additional photos or ask any questions before purchase to insure a satisfactory transaction.Response will be quick.Fast and Free U.S.shipping.No international shipping.
