    Description

    Civil War ORIGINAL jeweler engraved brass ID tag and signed in ink ID photo along with the obituary of Sargent Samuel E. Smith Co. G 6th U.S. Infantry.  Finely engraved 1 1/4" x 1 1/2" brass tag reads Samuel E. Smith Sargt. Co. G. 6th U.S. Infantry Gen. Sykes Regulars 5th Army Corps Nov 3 1863 Retired 1874 and the ID has the symbol of the Masons on the reverse.  According to the newspaper Obituary article also included Samuel Smith fought and was wounded July 3, 1863 at the battle of Gettysburg PA.
    Personal items of a Civil War Union soldier including photo, ID tag and obituary that have remained together for over 150 years... amazing!
