    Description

Up for bids is an original piece of a Civil War Ship. The relic is a nice size piece of the hull from the Confederate Privateer "CSS Nashville". The ship was built in New York. The ship was seized by the Confederate government in Charleston South Carolina in 1861 during the battle of Fort Sumter. The Nashville was the first ship to fly the Confederate flag in English waters. The ship served the CS Navy until she was destroyed on the Ogeechee river by the Federal ironclad Montauk. The relic measures roughly 20 1/2" x 8 1/2" and 2 3/4" at its thickest point. The piece has a good bit of weight to it. The wood is covered with remnants of copper and nails.  The piece comes with a signed document from relic hunters that acquired it.   Overall a very historical piece of American history. The relic displays great. Please feel free to email any questions. Be sure to view my other auctions for more historical items.  Thanks and good luck bidding!
