    Description

Nice and very affordable Civil War era Colt 1860 Army (44H / 44 Holster) bullet mold. Used by the North and South extensively. This mold has a nice ‘Colt’s Patent’ stamp, and a ‘44H’ on the right mold block. There is also a hard to see, but very likely, an ‘H’ inspector mark on the right mold block. It opens and closes perfectly smooth and with no hanging up. Needs a common sprue screw (see pictures #1 & 2, other pictures showing it for reference) which could easily raise the value +.
Reference #M28 on pages 248-249 in the book
    Colt Percussion Accouterments 1834-1873
, or also #M28, on pages 136-137 in the book
    Colt Percussion Accouterments 1834-1911
. Note that the book pages shown are for reference only.
    Note that per the
    Colt Accoutrements 1834-1911
book, this mold is the rarer 2nd model 1860 Army mold made during the early part of the Civil War, identified by the rounded tip of the sprue cutter instead of the much more common late war 3rd model with the squared off sprue cutter tip.
This mold has been professionally oiled with a gun protectant and inspected but not cleaned by me in any way.
