Description
You are bidding on the item listed above. The trophy was won by Philip Upton who was the uncle to Fred Upton the Michigan House of Representative. The trophy was for winning the Stubblefield race on Labor Day in 1935. Race was won by Philip Upton. He was one of the best sailboat racers of his young age. He died at the age of 21 on April 12, 1939 at Annandale on the Hudson. I would recommend to Google Philip Upton to really see the history. I am also including a program from the 1953 Michigan Championship for the Philip Quenten Upton Memorial Trophy. The trophy has aging but the engraving is perfect. The cup stands 14" high. The base is slightly loose but stands nicely without notice. This is an excellent one of a kind boating piece of history. Check pictures to determine yourself for condition. Please see my other auctions as i will be putting other items on and I combine shipping by weight.Combined shipping is available
