Description
12 Bullets From a Pre-Civil War Colt 1849 Pocket Model .31 Caliber Bullet Mold.Kindly note that you are buying bullets I hand cast from original civil war bullet molds, and not the mold.
This listing is for lead bullets hand cast directly from the original bullet mold pictured. You will get 12 bullets (6 round ball & 6 conical) from this original bullet mold. I can also cast larger quantities of lead bullets if requested. Note that these bullets are cast from pure soft lead (ballast or X-ray sheets) and have no fired bullets/wheel weights/unknown alloys mixed in.
Please note that each single purchase is for the lead bullets only (
not the bullet mold
). The bullets similar to the ones you will receive are pictured next to a nickel for scale (nickel not included). The linen gift pouch will be included with your purchase. This mold cast bullets of exactly the type used in the Civil War, whose bullets are still found at some sites today!
Shipping costs for the first item are accurate and calculated using the USPS counter weight. I do not inflate shipping/handling. I combine shipping, each additional purchase is shipped; please request an invoice upon checkout and I’ll send with this shipping discount. Thank you!
This bullet mold can be referenced in the book
Colt Percussion Accoutrements 1834-1873
on page 226-227, ID #Sixteen. Note that the book is referenced in the auction pictures but is not included in the auction.
I will be posting many other cast bullets from dozens of my original Civil War bullet molds so please check back, and at my other auctions. I also ship worldwide through the eBay Global Shipping service. Thank you and please send me any questions!
About me:
My first love is finding, documenting, and preserving pieces of Civil War history. Whether IDing a bullet and researching how it came to be there, electrolysis & acetone to clean and safely stabilize iron artifacts, acquiring rare bullet molds, and everything in between - I am enthusiastic about it all. I’ve had two public Civil War book and artifact displays, including a standing one at the local library where it’s been a source of fascination for people of all ages. Casting lead bullets from these rare molds is a chance to share a unique piece of Civil War history. Sales here will be used in my conservation and preservation efforts. For example renaissance wax and neutral stabilization materials are a constant must have!
In addition, I melt & work with precious metals and can cast 90% or 99% silver bullets, please also contact me if interested in turning one of these bullets into a precious metal. Gold is also an option, much less of a cost if you provide the material (such as scrap jewelry). These unique pieces of art would be cast from from an original bullet (not directly from the mold). This is because doing so would damage the mold irreplaceably as molten silver has vastly different hardness & properties than molten lead.
